About:Blank

About:Blank was created by a guy named Jase, as a way for him to share all of the weird things he found online. He said that he found the time to create this blog when he was procrastinating at work. At first, the blog was mainly read by his friends, family, and colleagues who found its broad range of topics entertaining. Over the years it has gained many more followers and has even won several blog awards. This blog has a lot of different topics, but who do you think the audience is? Is the blog only centered on humor? What type of humor, political etc.? Did you find it interesting, and what was your favorite post? I encourage all of you to not only look at the first page, but go back and look at some of its earlier posts.

  1. I love this blog! It's very fun and entertaining all around and Jase definitely doesn't take himself too seriously. I think the audience could truly be anyone above the age of ten (due to the fact that some of the posts are a little inappropriate). Overall I'd say the the blog is essentially based on various humorous things Jase finds on the web. They are all pretty random but I guess that's the point! My favorite posts were probably the pictures of all the crazy food items from around the world.

  2. The blog's genre and purpose is difficult to pinpoint. about:blank has a significant amount of humor, but there are a few posts that are more informative than others. The posts with the long pictures containing a list of statistics displayed in an attractive manner is unmistakably informative, but still usually done in a humorous tone.

As for site participation, on the articles I read, I found no comments. This does not mean the site is not active, but instead it is not meant to strike up online discussions of controversy. Based one the articles being mainly visual with little to no words, gives some incite on the intended audience. Possibly the audience of this blog is looking for some quick laughs and interesting facts to pass the boredom, and that is precisely what about:blank delivers.

  3. I can't really decide what this blog is going for. Some of the articles are really serious and discuss current economic and social issues, but others are supposed to be funny. The blog seems to me like it's going for a very wide audience, and with a lot of different writers.

  4. I think the audience of this blog is anyone that knows how to use a computer. The blog seems to be primarily about entertaining people with random things found on the internet. However, the blog does successfully bring up difficult subjects while keeping the tone funny.
I really enjoyed most of the articles found on this blog, especially the "People are amazing" video.

  5. The blog's title says it all. About:blank contains everything from humorous videos to bizarre statistics. The author doesn't have a true theme. Jase also avoids a serious and informative angle concerning his blog posts, but it's very entertaining and well organized. I believe his main objective in the blog is to fascinate the audience and provide something new purely for entertainment.

  6. I think that this is the best blog posted yet! It is humorous, and has some really cool posts! My favorite post is the one about the photo site called Literal.ly! The pictures of normal day to day things that were taken to the next level were so intriguing. Kudos to the posters of this blog! You picked a great one that anyone with a sense of humor can read and enjoy! :)

  7. This is my favorite blog so far, It's so funny and actually really interesting. I think Jase targets a mature audience, who has a sense of humor. There really isn't a certain type of topic or group of people, there's a lot of variety. I found a lot of the posts to be really interesting but the one that showed the girl aging from a baby to ten years old was really cool. I can't believe her parents took a picture every day.

  8. I read the "about us" section and the blog looks like it is not a serious one at all. The author sounds like the average Joe that just made a blog to share some laughs with other people. The blog is very entertaining though, but there really is not much use for it besides getting a couple good laughs.

  9. I like this blog- it seems to have something for everyone. It appears to be directed toward kids our age- college students. My favorite post is the video showing the plane landing at LAX. It's interesting and it feels like you're on a ride!

  10. I absolutely loveeeeee this blog . It's my favorite so far. It engaged me the most and kept me entertained for hours. I think I AM it's target audience. In a broader sense -- like Chelsea said its geared towards people our age -- but theres definitely something for everyone. Its fun, full of random tidbits and surprisingly enlightening.

My favorite post was one about a billion pages back about the evolution of the geek. The drawings were so cute and I couldn't help but to agree .

Also like what Josh said, there are no comments by readers for the majority of the posts. I guess readers don't feel the need to comment. Its just not how this blog operates. Some blogs feed on conversation and argument back and forth between the users. But this one does not. It simply posts for entertainment.

  11. This blog is absolutely amazing. The articles on this blog were by far the most entertaining articles I have come across for a while. The primary audience for this blog seem to be the younger generation.

My favorite post has to be the streaker fail. It was so funny that I couldn't stop laughing after watching it.

Also like Josh and Imari pointed out, this blog does not contain any comments. Its probably because this blog was made with the sole purpose of entertaining the audience rather than starting up arguments between its viewers about controversial topics.

  12. I like this blog a lot! many of this blog's articles are rather entertaining than controversial while the other blogs' posts were focused on starting argument by being controversial. I especilly liked the video clip which parents made famous game "angry bird" out of their son's birthday cake. This blog targets pretty much everyone who can use computer.

  13. This blog is well organized and information is good enough to entertain people. Even though the blog has random subjects, posts are very informative and interesting to anyone. To me, one video “simple guide to the UK” was interesting watch. The video was 5 minute short video but introduce concisely informed about United Kingdom.

  14. I think this blog is honestly made for anyone. I say that because they even have things for some younger children. One post i saw was about a dad who made and "angry birds" cake for his sons birthday. That is such a popular game now for young and old. This blog has a little bit of everything and I can definitely see myself going back to it if I ever needed something to do.

  15. The audience seems to be people who want to laugh at the ironies of life. A good example of this is the Blockbuster vs. Netflix breakdown, which is ironic since about a decade ago Blockbuster declined Netflix's pitch to them about their idea for Netflix. I enjoyed the blog and my favorite post was the breakdown one I mentioned.
