Everything Everywhere

http://everything-everywhere.com/

Everything-Everywhere was created by Gary Arndt as a way of sharing with the world his interesting travels. He sold his business in 1998 and has been traveling the world ever since, even traveling around the entire world in 1999 in his first trip outside the US. His stops include Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, the Bahamas, Iceland, Argentina and many more.

What place that he has visited interests you the most? Would you be able to drop everything and travel the world like he did? Does he have any other purposse in writing this blog?

  1. This blog, for me, is very intriguing. Being a travel-junkie, I love seeing and reading/hearing about others' adventures across the globe. A personal favorite is his post on Egypt. It's been a lifetime DREAM for me to visit the African country. Personally, I feel like I could drop everything and become a globe-trekking supertramp. I'd love it!

  2. This blog is very interesting to me because I have always fantasized about being able to pick up and leave everything and travel the world. Due to the fact that I cannot, or at least choose not, to just pick up everything and travel the world, I can live vicariously through his journeys. I am curious to find out if he travels to all these different places alone or if he brings people with him. I feel as though I would be incredibly homesick and lonely after traveling alone for so long, and that I would soon realize that my reasons for fleeing my current state would ultimately cause me to discover what was really missing from my life. He definitely had perceptions built up in his head of certain places he would go, and he mentions in the blog how "travel makes you perceive a place differently after you’ve been there." I wonder how his perceptions compare with his actual experiences of certain places.
I really enjoyed all of the photos he has taken of his travels from around the world and I will be eager to see what he posts next.

  3. I do like this blog. My favorite part is probably all of the pictures. Especially ones by the ocean or other bodies of water. It is very serene and even just looking at it brings you to your own nice place. I like the article about the hospital in Thailand. A lot of people would think it is rather sketchy, but in reality it is just as good if not better than in America. Especially the patient care; in America most nurses are overworked and underpaid. They have way more patients than they should, but in Thailand the patient care is fantastic and the hospital is pretty. It makes the hospital almost nice, when a lot of time you are not in a hospital to have a nice time.

  4. Gary's blog is a very creative idea concerning travel and the cultural differences that exist in the world. His travels create an opportunity for others to see his amazing experiences in which the majority of the audience may not have the chance to ever witness in their lives. He uses pictures well to captivate the beauty and diversity of the various locations and environments. Overall, a very interesting blog.

  5. This blog is very informative and thought provoking. I personally enjoyed the author's experiences in Egypt recently. He goes to explain how you don't fully understand a place, until you personally visit there. This only makes sense because of how diversely a place can be defined based on the person, stereotypes, history, etc. Even though his article on Egypt was interesting and probably a valid account of Egypt, however, I must define the place on my own, with minimum outside influences. So I still have no idea what Egypt is really like through my eyes.

The comments were intriguing, for majority of the audience appeared to be travel enthusiast as well. They either gave their opinion of the article or a short story of their travels. These comments give us some insight about the intended audience, which are travel enthusiast or people who are simply interested in learning about other places around the world.

  6. I am so jealous! I wish I had the opportunity and the means to travel the world. I'd love to visit everywhere he's been, especially, Europe and Australia. I think it's crazy that he triple majored in math, economics and political science and now he's traveling the world. I admire his desire to be happy and live his life spontaneously. He said he didn't plan on traveling until one day it came to him, so he did it. I think he's happy with his life and wants to share his experiences with others through his blog. He also wants to inform them about other places in the world.

  7. I think that this blog is really interesting. I have always wanted to travel the world and if it were the right time in my life I might go to a couple places for a few weeks. Although I think he must be having the time of his life getting to see everything the work offers, I do not think I would be able to drop everything. I am kind of wondering whether he is a photographer or took photography classes because the pictures are amazing, they look like they might have come out of a magazine. The pictures of the beaches and palm trees make me want to go there and just lay out on the beach leaving all my worries behind. Maybe that’s why he decided to travel, not just to see the world but leave his world behind, at least for a little while. I don’t really think he has any other purpose of posting this blog other than showing his adventures to the world. Not everyone can drop what they are doing at that stage of their live and travel so it kind of seems like he is helping them out by showing them what he experienced. I don’t really know if I have a favorite post because each place he visited makes me want to go there and see the same things he did. I really enjoyed looking at this blog and it makes me wonder and hope that someday I might get to travel to my favorite places as well.

  8. I read his about section and was intrigued about how he does all of this. It is crazy that he does all of this alone. His profile is interesting to because he looked like he had a set life, but then he did a complete 180 and sold his business to travel the world. This blog is awesome because Gary really does have a passion to travel and he looks pretty dedicated to this blog. Also the photos he takes are amazing!

  9. I enjoyed this blog because I truly love traveling. Having been out of the country several times, I realize how much knowledge he must have gained from traveling to all these places. I am sure that he has experienced many priceless events and met plenty of amazing people.
I think it takes a very unique person to travel the world constantly. Everyone fantasizes about how great it would be to do this, but in my opinion, it would not meet this expectation.
On a trip to Ecuador, I met a couple in their upper 40's who decided to quit their jobs, sell their house, and travel the world for exactly one year. They were 4 months into it when I met them. They said that overall, it had been a great experience, but not at all what they expected. You don't expect to get the stomach flu on the Machu Picchu Trail, or lose your luggage, or get your passport stolen by a pickpocket. They also said that finding a place to live in a different country only 2 weeks in advance was incredibly difficult and stressful. One night the wife admitted that she really missed having a home, a home not just referring to a house, but to friends, family and a routine.
Just a different perspective for everyone.
As for the blog, I love the pictures and videos of Gary's trips, especially the Zip Line video from Puerto Rico.

  10. I really enjoyed looking at Gary's pictures that he took while he was on trip. His blog is really informative, I learnt great deal from his pictures. While looking at his pictures, I feel like i'm actually travelling along him. Also, I was amazed how he gave up his business to do this. I adore his passion. I mean, if I was him, I would never be able to give up my business just to travel the world. This article targets everyone who is willing to learn about other countries.

  11. I personally enjoyed this blog due to Gary's amazing camera work and his choice of photos. Every object has a story behind it, which seems to project itself through his photos. My favorite would have to be the Graffiti in Spain. According to me this blog would intrigue any person who has at least a little interest in travel.

  12. I didnt really like this blog that much . I guess because it's different from the blogs that we have looked at before since it's about travel. I did however like the pictures . The picture I liked the most is "The Eiffel Tower as seen from The Trocadéro in Paris, France" because I was once in this same exact place and had the same exact view. It was kind of an amazing experience.
I just wish that he would have wrote more because I dont get a good feel about what he did or what the tip was about. I just see the picture and go "Ohh thats nice" but I dont really get to expierence much with him.

  13. I have found that this blog is amazingly intersting! I really want to do some traveling in my future! The fact that this guy gets to travel the world and it's so awesome that he gets to give those of us who don't travel a view into the outside world! I'm impressed by him and his great "job"

  14. I think this blog created by a man with a pure curiosity mind, which made me feel the writer of great. I would not dare to do drop my career or the business to do such travelling. Even though I longed for travelling the world for a long ages, yet I can hardly make the dream come true like the blog writer who has the brave heart did so, I really like this blog a lot.
