Funny-Potato.com is a blog dedicated to providing its viewers with tons of funny pictures and videos. I think the title of the website alone tells you that its a goofy website filled with interesting video's you can post on your friends facebook pages. Sometimes my friends and I come on sites just like these and waste hours of what should be study time. The blog is managed by a group of individuals (I could not find a specific person to credit this site to) and has been online since 2004 . This blog site is always up to date with new pictures and video out there on the internet so you can stay ahead of the curve when joking with your friends about new videos and pictures.
Who is the main audience for this blog? Which one of these articles interested you the most?
I'd say this is another blog made for teenagers to laugh at. I think the pictures and some of the videos are funny, but I find the commentary written by the authors to be rather simple-minded. There aren't many comments from other readers so I can't tell if this is necessarily a very popular blog.
ReplyDeleteI don't really find this blog funny. I don't know . .. between the comments and the pictures it just doesnt make me want to laugh. I stopped browsing about 4 pages in because I just couldn't really get into it . The audience for this blog is kids and teenagers. It is too bare and watered down for me to be apart of the audience.
ReplyDeleteAlso, there are rarely any comments are discussion. It seems that author simply posts things for his own personal pleasure.(But way more people FB share it - so this is good) And he is trying a wee bit to hard to be funny.
If I had to choose one article that interested me , I would have to say it is "2 feet of snow!"
PS . The author uses the word "funny" WAYYYY to much. Just because you say it's funny ... it makes it NOT funny, it makes it corny.
I think the main audience for this blog is mainly young adults. The entry about "a mother and her son" was pretty funny. I wonder if the pictures are actually the same people, or just a funny experiment?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Erin in that this blog doesn't seem to be enormously popular, or at least it doesn't have the comments to prove if it is, and the comments are indeed very simple-minded. I didn't really find anything to be entertaining or funny on the site but it's probably geared towards younger kids. Though this blog isn't exactly productive in analyzing or addresses issues I believe it serves its purpose which is simply to entertain viewers who share a common comedic interest.
ReplyDeleteI think the main audience for this blog is anyone who likes laughing at funny and ironic pictures on the internet. The article that interested me the most was definitely the "Dangerous jump!" video. I have doubts about the authenticity of the video (whether some editing was done to it) because the stunt looks a little too dangerous and improbable that they'd get the landing dead-on. Suffice to say though, it is a cool video.
ReplyDeleteI feel as though this blog is simply for someone who doesn't want to have to use their brain a whole lot. It's somewhat entertaining but most of the articles are something that my immature 14 year old brother would find hilarious! I'm not saying it's not a good blog...just one that isn't on the same intellectual level as most college students.
ReplyDeleteThe Dangerous Jump video was definitely the most interesting. But putting funny in EVERY SINGLE TITLE and EVERY SINGLE SENTENCE jsut made the posts not funny. That and some of the posts just weren't funny. Some were, but they need to find some better material instead of posting everything they see. The audience is definitely teens, and seems to be written by teens. The writing itself is not very developed.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of the above comments. There aren't very many comments on any of the blog's posts and the humor does seem to be a bit immature. I feel like the author(s) doesn't put a huge amount of work into these posts, because I noticed several typos and they use the same words too multiple times.

Just by visual appearance, I can only assume this blog is run by an amateur blogger who just likes funny stuff. The blog actively publishes new articles, but the comment participation is rather low. This contradicts the fact that there are over 700 likes on facebook for this blog. The audience, is probably younger adults who are not looking for any intellectual captions, just something to laugh about.
ReplyDeleteEven though the author's captions are bland, their is enough images on this site that eventually you'll come across one that you'll find funny.
This blog contains lots of funny things. What interests me the most is luxury bathroom picture because I think it looks really creative. However, I think it is not for broad range of audiences. There are not many comments from other readers and the audiences for this blog are probably young students or teenagers who want to find funny thing to laugh at.

ReplyDeleteI don't like it, it is not funny at all, making fun of dead or making fun of Chinese manufacturing industry by that way is rude and stupid. Other pictures are not funny at all, It's just retarded. Using retarded things to make people laugh is kind of Pathetic. That will mislead some teenager audience. So I didn't get the point? What exactly do u guys want to share with us?
ReplyDeleteI would agree with the majority of the previous posts regarding the young audience the blog attracts. The site overall has simple setup and the titles/captions have an immature tone. I found a couple interesting and funny posts, however it almost took me the whole class period.
ReplyDeleteI also do not like this blog. It has posted some so-called funny pictures and added some immature comments about these. However, maybe it can waste some boring time of some people, but it can not satisfy most of people. In addition, some of this blog are something about laughing at Chinese people. I think this is stupid.
ReplyDeleteI think that this blog is meant for students to pass the time quickly. It is not a blog that has a lot of writing; it seems to just offer a quick laugh so that people can be on their way doing other things that need to get done. I enjoyed browsing this blog; it defiantly had some funny pictures. I think it is interesting that this is a “picture only” kind of blog, because the ones with more writing and controversy seem to add more opinions into the comment section. Whereas this one does not have many comments so it leads me to believe that it is more of a place to get some laughs instead of really voicing one’s opinions. I really enjoyed looking at this site because it did make me laugh, it helped me forget about my worries for a little bit. This blog is kind of a de-stressor we could all probably use a bit of that in our lives. So I think it did its job of getting to the people it needed to.

I felt like this blog was like youtube because most of the comments are really short and don't really contribute much towards a conversation. I enjoy the blog it has many funny pictures and some interesting pictures. Overall this is a blog where people can pass the time when they are bored.
