Funny-Potato

http://www.funny-potato.com/blog/page/3

Funny-Potato.com is a blog dedicated to providing its viewers with tons of funny pictures and videos. I think the title of the website alone tells you that its a goofy website filled with interesting video's you can post on your friends facebook pages. Sometimes my friends and I come on sites just like these and waste hours of what should be study time. The blog is managed by a group of individuals (I could not find a specific person to credit this site to) and has been online since 2004 . This blog site is always up to date with new pictures and video out there on the internet so you can stay ahead of the curve when joking with your friends about new videos and pictures.

Who is the main audience for this blog? Which one of these articles interested you the most?

Everything Everywhere

http://everything-everywhere.com/

Everything-Everywhere was created by Gary Arndt as a way of sharing with the world his interesting travels. He sold his business in 1998 and has been traveling the world ever since, even traveling around the entire world in 1999 in his first trip outside the US. His stops include Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, the Bahamas, Iceland, Argentina and many more.

What place that he has visited interests you the most? Would you be able to drop everything and travel the world like he did? Does he have any other purposse in writing this blog?

About:Blank

About:Blank was created by a guy named Jase, as a way for him to share all of the weird things he found online. He said that he found the time to create this blog when he was procrastinating at work. At first, the blog was mainly read by his friends, family, and colleagues who found its broad range of topics entertaining. Over the years it has gained many more followers and has even won several blog awards. This blog has a lot of different topics, but who do you think the audience is? Is the blog only centered on humor? What type of humor, political etc.? Did you find it interesting, and what was your favorite post? I encourage all of you to not only look at the first page, but go back and look at some of its earlier posts.

Geekologie

This week's fabulous blog is GEEKOLOGIE. Ironically enough, this misspelled blog is aimed toward geeks of all corners of the web. The blog is the self proclaimed "Geek blog dedicated to the scientific study of gadgets, gizmos, and AWESOME." Each post is paired with hilarious commentary, authored only by one anonymous writer. Though this blog's target audience is gizmo obsessed fan boys, theres something for everyone. Do you go ga-ga for gadgets? Which entry tickles your fancy?

Feministe

http://www.feministe.us/blog/
Feministe- In defense of the sanctimonious women's studies set.
This week’s blog that we are going to take a look at is called Feministe. Feministe is a very active and analytical blog made up of a community of people interested in women’s right and the way women are viewed in society today. The main posts are made up of eleven female writers who post various ads, political cartoons and prose, and then analyze its effect on society. Anyone and everyone can comment on their posts, and indeed many people do. What types of people are commenting on these posts? Are their comments and interactions with each other productive or not? Why? What do you think the intent of this blog is?

Blog Project Test Run

Welcome to the Blog Project!  Every week, a group of you will be responsible for locating and posting the link to a blog or website for the class to discuss here.  On your week, you will post the title and URL of the site you've found, along with a brief description:

Sociological Images

This is a site about analyzing culture/society through images- pictures, posters, ads, graphs, sometimes videos- from a sociological perspective.

Easy, right?  The facilitating group must post the site before Wednesday's class, and give a very brief presentation in class, just saying why you chose the site and why you think it's interesting. Each member of the group must point out something about the site, or ask a question, to get the discussion started.  Then, throughout the week, everyone else in the class is expected to engage in discussion of the selected site.

The project officially starts next week, but I thought I'd give everyone a chance to try it out with a blog I selected.  Check it out, and share your observations in the comments.
